Shot Show 2008 - 02/06/2008
Hello everyone,
It's Patrick Flanigan. We just finished up another "Shot Show" and all I can say is, "Xtreme"! This was the most amazing show to date for Winchester and myself. The SX3 has quickly become the most talked about and most wanted semi-auto shotgun in the world.
I want to thank everyone who came by my sponsors booth's to say, hello and to show your continuous support.
2008 is going to be bigger, better, faster and even more Xtreme!
I have attached a few pics from the Winchester booth. Check em out!
See you all out on the road!

2007 Year In Review - 12/31/2007
2007 The Year in Review
By Mike the sound guy
Well, here we are at the tail end of 2007 and it seems like another year has just flown by faster than a shot full of bb's! I had the privilege of witnessing many of Patrick's great accomplishments throughout the year and I now have the privilege of reviewing them with you.
¢ January 2007: The annual Shot Show which is the outdoor industry's largest gathering of vendors, writers and professional outdoorsmen in the United States took place this year in Orlando, Florida. When Patrick walked into the Winchester booth to begin the four days of showing off all the features and benefits of their super products he was astounded to see his likeness on the jumbo video monitor in the booth! You see, 2007 earmarked the 100th anniversary of the great John Wayne. Patrick was told to expect to see life size cutouts and posters of Mr. Wayne but he was not told that HE would be featured as well as part of the Legends of Winchester display! A huge glass case was set up in the booth containing the very same Super X2 world record setting shotgun that Patrick had recently retired to the Winchester Hall of Fame along with some 100,000 expended shells that had been cycled through this firearm. (I wasn't with Pat on this trip but I swear I heard his jaw hit the floor when he saw the display!) Patrick Flanigan videos played constantly throughout the 4 days of the show and attracted many thousands of people to the booth. Patrick signed over 4,000 autographs and on the final day of the show he was presented with a 4 foot trophy by Winchester in recognition of his many world records. Patrick was of course deeply honored by this show of support by Winchester.
¢ February/March 2007: Patrick and I began the live show season primarily in the warmer southern states kicking off the many new routines and accompanied by some kickin' new music.
¢ April 2007: Patrick traveled to Morgan, Utah the Winchester Firearms headquarters to shoot the new commercial which you have probably seen by now on many of the premier Outdoor Television Stations. The commercial was originally intended to be shots of Patrick doing some of his show routines for the camera and during the taping Patrick mentioned that he had heard that other shotgun manufactures claimed that they had the fastest cycling gun in the business and boasted that he could beat their times with his new Winchester Super X3 hands down. The Winchester team broke out a sound activated high tech speed timer, set it up to begin at the sound of the first shot, and basically said "Go Xtreme for us!" After removing his foot from his mouth Patrick mounted the gun to his shoulder and proceeded to rip off 12 shots in 1.442 seconds! This was far faster than had ever been done before and he did it on the first take. A new world record was born and the accomplishment became the new Winchester television commercial. Upon Patrick's return from Utah we immediately packed to begin our spring and summer show tour and the next stop was performing for the Heritage Group of NRA donors in St. Louis, MO where the annual NRA show was held this year. Patrick performed in temperatures in the low teens, the P.A. system didn't want to work well in the cold and the show was somewhat abbreviated for the comfort of the audience. In spite of the conditions Patrick put on a tremendous show and received numerous compliments on both his shooting and his entertainment professionalism. Such is life on the road where we must be prepared for any number of potential problems. We then worked the NRA show in the Winchester booth where the new speed world record was shown to the public for the first time and the response was overwhelming! I think Patrick developed hand cramps from all the autographs that he signed and I'm pretty sure this is where the seed of an idea began forming in the minds of the Winchester people for another surprise coming Patrick's way. (Keep reading to find out more.)
¢ May/June 2007: The sometimes grueling show tour continues where Patrick finds himself sometimes performing in less than perfect conditions. Just to mention a few we did shows in parking lots, mountain slopes and many other unusual venues. May 29th also marked Patrick's golden birthday which was also celebrated on the road. I mention these things just to let you know that the life of an Xtreme Sport Shooter isn't always glamorous and involves many sacrifices.
¢ July 2007: Patrick appeared on the front cover of Sticks and Stones Magazine this month and he was invited to attend the Country Bash concert that they sponsored in Iowa as a VIP guest. Patrick had the opportunity to rub elbows with many Country Music Industry stars many of whom are big Flanigan fans! I'm not sure how many of you know this but Patrick was also a drummer for over 23 years before beginning his shooting career. It was at this event that Patrick got to meet the legendary Mr. Aaron Tippin and they almost immediately became fast friends and began making plans to try and combine their two very different yet subtly related talents. Keep a close eye on their two websites for future show dates and an opportunity to see these two living legends at the same venue! You will be able to see Aaron shoot and Patrick drum!
¢ August 2007: At the Grand America National sporting clays event in Sparta, Illinois we performed in 110 degree heat. That one was brutal but as the saying goes, "The show must go on!" It was also during this month that we performed at perhaps our most anticipated event of the year in our hometown of Oshkosh, Wisconsin. The Ducks Unlimited Great Outdoors festival is an annual event in Oshkosh and it was here that Patrick's passion for Xtreme Sport Shooting was born when he attended this event in his teens and watched his first exhibition shooting show. So, when Patrick was asked to perform here it was an opportunity to show his chops in front of family and friends and we were determined to do it big! Patrick brought in Mikey Kelley, voice of Michelagelo in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie as a special guest. The show format was changed around, the music was turned up a notch or two and it was decided that that Patrick would attempt to break his 11 clay target record as well as his hip shooting record at this event. Patrick performed 3 shows that day in hot and humid conditions and although he wasn't successful in breaking those records that day we came away with enthusiastic cheers from the audience and frankly, we had the time of our lives.
¢ September/October 2007: By this time we had performed in the neighborhood of 60 events and although the tour schedule was winding down another part of Patrick's busy schedule was just beginning. The fall months are primarily when Patrick does a lot of the filming of duck, pheasant, goose and every other game bird you can think of for use on the many television shows he appears in. Patrick travels throughout the country during these months and although it certainly is work, like Xtreme Sport Shooting it is work that he loves to do. October also presented Patrick with the opportunity to do his first combination show with Aaron Tippin at the annual Winchester sales meeting. Aaron and Patrick did some shooting together and then Patrick joined Aaron on-stage on the drums for a musical performance. I heard they were rockin the crowd "In a Country Kind of Way." It was also at this sales meeting that Winchester surprised Pat by telling him that in 2008 they were releasing a new Super X3 shotgun with a red receiver. Sound familiar? This is the gun that Patrick uses in his shows and to set his world records but was previously unavailable to the public. The firearm is called the "Flani-Gun" and this gun is being marketed as Patrick's signature gun. It should be noted that this is the first time Winchester has had a firearm with someone's name on it since the Legendary John Wayne. Congratulations Patrick!
¢ November/December 2007: The season has wound down and Patrick gets a little well deserved R&R as we start the preparations for next years shows. We have plans to make 2008 even more Xtreme than ever. I'm sworn to secrecy about specifics but I can say that we are learning to be more pyrotechnically proficient! As I write this now between Christmas and New Year I want to tell you that cool, calm and confident Patrick is as close to being a nervous wreck as I have ever seen him because our beloved Packers are in the playoffs. We want to take this time to thank all of Patrick's loyal fans for their undying support this year. At the risk of sounding cliché it really is you the fans that keep us going. Patrick also wants to thank his many sponsors, family and friends for all of their support and we look forward to seeing you all on the road in 2008! Now if you will excuse me there is a poker table with my name on it so this is Sound guy Mike signing off and wishing you the happiest of New Years!

"Dakota" my new pup. - 07/30/2007
Hello everyone,
it's with great joy and excitement that I take the opportunity to introduce you to the newest member of my family, "Dakota". Dakota is very special to myself and my family as he is from the same parents as my greatest hunting companion and sidekick, "Remy". For those of you who don't know about Remy you can read all about him in another article in my news section titled, "In memory of my best friend".
Dakota is only five weeks old and has yet to come home with me. I am overly anxious to begin training with Dakota and developing that never ending bond between a man and his best friend.
I have attached a few pictures for you all to see and I will continue posting pics and news on Dakota as often as possible.
Thanks again everyone!

Patrick Flanigan's Team Xtreme - 05/06/2007
Patrick Flanigan's Team Xtreme
Hello everyone,
It's with great excitement that I share some photos with you from a shooting project I had the honor to host last week. I conducted a shooting and safety seminar for Lourdes High School of Oshkosh, WI. The class was held just outside of Oshkosh at the Fox Valley Trap Club.
The class was amazing and so where all of the students. I was floored by their natural shooting capabilities and their ability to learn so quickly . Even with 25 mph wind gusts, we had some students hitting 23 of 25 on the second day, major sweetness!! The majority of the class had never shot a firearm and we're slightly nervous about doing so. It wasn't until after the first couple of times pulling the trigger and the their first time hitting a clay target that the nerves relaxed and the fun took over. By the last day the students where expressing their enjoyment by wanting to shoot more and by asking how they could join up at the club. I had an awesome time with the entire class and only wish we would've had more time.
This was a great opportunity to educate our youth on the safety and fun of the shooting sports that we all enjoy. I hope to continue this program in the future at Lourdes and hopefully, other schools as well!
Thank you Lourdes, J.R. Zemke, Fox Valley Trap Club, Do All Outdoors, Winchester and all of you amazing students!
Thanks everyone!

*PRESS RELEASE* "The World's Fastest Shotgun" - 04/23/2007
Press Release
Winchester Super X3 the Fastest Shotgun in the World!
April 11, 2007
MORGAN, UTAH. World record holding Xtreme Sport Shooter Patrick Flanigan fires 12 shells in just 1.442 seconds with the Winchester Super X3 Shotgun!
With just a few hours of familiarization time behind the trigger of his brand new Winchester Super X3 shotgun, Xtreme Sport Shooter Patrick Flanigan was able to fire a dozen Winchester AA 12 gauge shells in an astonishing 1.442 seconds, timed from first to last shot. The Winchester Super X3 used by Flanigan was not specially modified in any way other than having an extended magazine to allow for firing 12 shots.
"The formula for success is simple," stated Flanigan. "Xtreme reliability combined with minimal felt recoil equals super xtreme speed. That's why the Winchester Super X3 is the world's fastest shooting shotgun."
The feat occurred on the morning of April 3, 2007, in Morgan, Utah, during the taping of a new Winchester Rifles and Shotguns TV commercial and was captured on videotape. A PACT MK IV XP electronic timing system capable of timing individual shots to 1/1,000th of a second was used to verify the incredible rapid fire string. Digital still photos and video clips of the action are available at www.winchesterguns.com
(The rate of fire works out to 457 rounds per minute, about the same rate of fire as the 50 caliber Browning M2 belt-fed heavy machine gun.)
The Winchester Super X autoloading shotguns have long enjoyed a reputation for shooting speed, fast handling, natural pointability, exceptional reliability and soft felt recoil. The Winchester Super X3 is the latest model in the line and is available in wood-stocked field, black composite and camo composite waterfowl models.

In memory of my best friend. - 01/30/2007
In memory of Remy
God gives us many great gifts and through those gifts we find happiness, we find God's happiness! One of those gifts in my life was my best friend Remy. Remy was a 3½ year old black lab. He was the bravest, most dedicated and loving dog I have ever known. Tipping the scales at around seventy pounds, this passionate and dedicated hunting machine made the harshest of cattail patches look like tinker toys as he would plow his way toward a downed bird.
I got Remy from a litter of black lab puppies in a town a few minutes away from my home. I picked him or actually I should say he picked me, as he followed me around from the second I got there to the second I left. Remy continued to follow me for another 3 ½ years. Whether it was in the field or on the range, my faithful companion was always by my side.
Myself, Remy and Kody (my chocolate lab) shared many great hunts and memories. Together we traveled the country seeking out every corn field, ditch bank and slough we could find that just might hold a bird. From the old rusty Chevy pickup of yesterday to the mighty Dodge diesel of today, we were a team and we made it happen. I cherish all of our long, endless drives we would embark on with no particular destination in mind. That's just what we did!
Believe it or not, a person can learn a tremendous amount from a dog. I know I have learned more from Remy than from any professor I had in college. The night he was killed I remember how even in the pain of it all and in his last moments he wanted nothing more than to come to me. All he ever wanted to do was please me. Through example, Remy taught me about being strong and never giving up. Most of all, however, he taught me the meaning of unconditional love, something our human society struggles with.
I will never forget my best friend and I look forward to our reunion together with the ultimate Hunter. Only a true dog owner can understand these words. Only a real man cries at such a loss.
Remy my man, thank you for all of the memories and thank you for all of the great hunts. I will see you soon and until then...get your bird buddy!

Pump World Record! - 08/28/2006
August 25th, 2006
Flanigan Sets Yet Another Record
Patrick Flanigan, professional exhibition shooter for Winchester shotguns and Winchester ammunition, established another world record today while performing at the beautiful Milford Hills Hunt Club in Johnson's Creek, Wisconsin.
Flanigan who already holds world records for shooting eleven clay targets shot individually, without assistance, from the shoulder and nine clay targets from the hip with a semi-automatic shotgun began his show by telling the crowd he wanted to establish a new world record for them today. Flanigan then proceeded to shoot five hand thrown clay targets individually, without assistance, from the hip with the Winchester 1300 speed pump shotgun, on the first attempt! When the cheers died down a spectator shouted, "Go for six!" Flanigan immediately reloaded his Winchester 1300 speed pump and responded, "Why not" On the very next attempt the crowd roared when they witnessed six clay targets being individually smoked all before they hit the ground.
When Flanigan was asked how he felt after completing his show he replied, "I guess you can say I'm "pumped" about setting another world record and I'm really glad it happened at a live show so close to my home town of Oshkosh, Wisconsin. I will be adding a magazine extension to my 1300 and going for 7, 8 and 9 sometime in the near future. I will also be attempting to set another pump record but this time from the shoulder."

Just Shootin' From the Hip - 08/17/2006
Just Shootin'From the Hip
Patrick Flanigan, xtreme sport shooter and world record holder recently released video footage of yet another world record! Flanigan currently holds the records for the most clay targets thrown by hand and individually shot without assistance when shooting from a shoulder mount position as well as shooting them from the hip.
Flanigan first set the record for most clay targets shot from the hip on May 6, 2005 by breaking five. He set out to break this record again on May 19, 2006 and progressively worked his way up to eight 108 mm White Flyer clay targets hand thrown and shot individually from a hip mount position! He left the shooting field that day feeling elated but knowing he was capable of bettering this astounding record.
On July 6, 2006 the first anniversary of his eleven clay targets from the shoulder record he went back to his practice field with video crew in tow and proceeded to hit nine clay targets individually from the hip!
When asked how he was able to set these records Flanigan replied. "It is due to a combination of great products like the Winchester Super X2 shotgun, Winchester AA ammunition, the Tru-Glo Titan choke tube and hundreds of hours of practice."
When asked if he had other goals or records he wanted to accomplish Flanigan just winked and said, "Stay tuned."

Faviken Rocks by: Mike the sound guy. - 08/06/2006
Greetings!
This is Mike the sound guy writing as we wing our way westward after a spectacular five show weekend in beautiful Faviken, Sweden.
We started the week off being met by our generous host, Mr. Johan Ornerkrans in Stockholm, Sweden where we made another short hop to Ostersund in Northern Sweden. The final leg of our journey was a one hour drive through the forests, hills and mountains in the middle of nowhere to the site of the 2006 Faviken Game Fair. The location was is so remote Patrick and I wondered if anyone would actually be in attendance! Boy were we wrong!
The gates opened at 10:00 am Friday and people streamed in by the thousands from all over Scandinavia! The hundreds of vendors, food tents and people camping by the thousands quickly put our worries to rest.
As Patrick was being introduced at his first show of the event we looked out at a sea of people sitting on the hillside anxiously awaiting Patrick's entrance on the raised stage. We knew Patrick had a great fan base here from the many Scandinavian guestbook entries and all of his fan mail but we had no idea what to expect. As the crowd roared in applause as Patrick took the stage I knew this was going to be a show that Sweden would never forget.
As I expected Patrick rocked the house! Patrick was definitely on the mark today. Hitting multiple targets, matching world records, involving the audience and capping off the show with a pyrotechnic salute to our new Swedish friends. The crowd was left in awe after the explosions echoed their way through the entire fair grounds.
So as we wrap up our European trip and begin our return voyage home Patrick and I reflect on what a wonderful trip this has been. The Scandinavian people are some of the warmest and friendliest we have ever had the pleasure of meeting and we depart with treasured memories.
Patrick and I have also discussed some additions to the performances that we think will rock your socks off, so stay tuned!
Tack alla mina svenska vanner! |

New World Record!! - 07/07/2005
This is an exciting time for both myself and my sponsors as we have just set the new world record of eleven hand thrown clay targets individually shot without assistance on the date of July 6th 2005.
This record was officially certified and witnessed by Scott Taetsch, NRA representative.
There will be further video and press releases to follow.
Again, thank you to everyone who has supported myself and the sport of exhibition shooting. None of this would have been possible without the world's greatest shooting products, Winchester Ammunition and Winchester Shotguns. Thanks guys!!
